Yep, iPhone 8 can handle WebGL 2.0, but it should have an up-to-date (>15.0) iOS version.

Perhaps not all iPhone/iPad users update their devices regularly, since according to Web3D Survey, ~6% of them don’t have WebGL 2.0 supported. I believe this estimation is very optimistic since it’s based on the stats collected from web developers.

as of Feb 2023 only 4% of iphones are using a OS under version 15: https://www.statista.com/statistics/565270/apple-devices-ios-version-share-worldwide/

Apple’s Market Share in mobile devices – 31.6%
    https://gs.statcounter.com/vendor-market-share/mobile

Thes two stats allow us to determine that the total percentage of users using iOS under version 15 are: .316 x .04 = .01264 or 1.264%.

The iPhone 8 has unique screen resolution of 375×667

Stats for this screen resolution cant be found…not because they don’t exist but because the percentage of use is so small it not listed most of the time.

As of Jun 9th, 2023 Apple has obsoleted iPhone 8 and iPhone X. They will not be able to upgrade to iOS 17.

This does not mean they are bad devices or cant do things. Just looking forward I think its worth considering dropping support for them if its holding the advancement of V3D. Its such a small population and as a developer we don’t support any device that are obsolete or not able to run the latest OS. Just my two cents….I am sure you will make the switch when you are ready.
