Once again, we announce another spray of updates to Verge3D material libraries! Changes include several new shaders in the Essential and Machinery packs and the upgraded Jewelry pack.
Essential Packs
First, the Essential packs for Blender, 3ds Max, and Maya all received a new material called Printing Filament, which allows to simulate objects created in 3D printers. It is a fast universal shader suitable for all types of applications.
We also updated the simplistic Gemstone shader with new mesh and environment map.
Machinery Packs
Next, the Machinery packs for Blender, 3ds Max, and Maya were all supplemented by a collection of new materials used in 3D printing. These are ABS, Nylon, Nylon with Glass Fiber, PETG, PLA, PLA-Silk, SBS, and TPU. The shaders are more advanced than those used in our recently revealed 3D Printer demo and intended for more nuanced applications.
Jewelry Pack
Most significant updates were introduced to the Jewelry Pack for Blender where all existing gem shaders have been reworked. The samples obtained a new crystal-like mesh and a new environment map.
Also, we created an example of a more advanced setup which we called Multilayer Gem. You can use it for cases where quality and realism is a must. The diamond effect stems from two shaders applied to the inner and outer surfaces of the mesh.
It leverages the new environment map (named environment_3_*k) resembling crumpled foil which is typically used when capturing photos or videos of precious stones. We applied some post-effects to the scene via Puzzles too.
Finally, we added a new fully procedural and extremely flexible shader, Turquoise.
