Hi, ive tried to create as realistic i can submarine sim, just to test limits, the fog effect is planes with transparent and diffuse mixed together, this is a similar tech that eevee does, but without advanced optimization techiques, any ideas of ways to optimize further?

    BEWARE! HARDWARE INTENSIVE!

im running it on a rtx5090, and its struggeling a bit..

    Controls:
movement: WASD – arrows up and down, Q – change camera pos, E,R,T,Y – change submarine lights

    Hi,

The underwater experience is just great :good:

By looking into the performance profile I see 5.8 million triangles and a couple of 4K textures which are quite large for web-based visualization. However, the real performance killer is 16 lights. Basically, complex lighting calculations are performed for each pixel on your scene with the magnitude of 16x. Reducing the amount of lights may help a lot.

Cool! Would it help if i enabled shadow casting for the lights? XD

What GPU did you use? Alexander?

i Also added possibillity to disable the volume object “V” and the particle “P”
ive not done any optimizing on the textures, this is just trying to find out how to be able to fake volumetrics,

The 5.8 million triangles possibly stems from mostly the particle effect?

Unfortunately, the shadow casting will degrade rendering performance even more.

I’ve checked on Apple M5 and got only 4 FPS (9 FPS with disabled volumetrics, while the particles seamed to be have no effect on the FPS).
