    Hi
Will verge’s new video texture puzzle support WebM video codec (uses alpha channel transparency) also “CineformRGB 12 bit with alpha” ?

Watching a video here that recommends them for transien transparent backgrounds (to blend nicely into the 3d scene)

    Thanks

    Edit: didn’t see the link

    Hi,

Will verge’s new video texture puzzle support WebM video codec (uses alpha channel transparency) also “CineformRGB 12 bit with alpha” ?

You can use webm videos in the puzzles related to video textures: load video, replace texture, etc… Although, the alpha channel doesn’t work right now, but we’ve added this task to our TODO list.

But using a particular video format on the web is also a matter of browser support. According to this data: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video#Browser_support MP4 is the most reliable format if we are talking about the most popular browsers, while OGG and WEBM are not supported, have limited support or need some additional software if you consider such browsers as IE, Edge(before chromium) and Safari.

Just wanted to check back in about this topic– is support for video alpha possible in Verge3D or is it planned to be added anytime soon?

    Hi,

Thanks for reminding about that! We will include this feature into the next verge3d update.
