    Hello there,
Simple question : what language is to be used to embed a simple raytracer in verge3D applet ?

There are lots of them, open source, in javascript and other languages.
So i wonder if it could be done to let the user move around, make some color choices, open / close things, and when he’s done, to get a raytraced picture out of it, with a press on a button.

Raytracing would give nice reflexions, and – maybe – nice soft shadows from lights. Ok, not in real-time, but “on-demand”.

I can put one intern on this dev stuff, but i need to know in advance what is the language for Verge3D /Puzzles plugins.

    Best regards.

    Hi,

Verge3D and Puzzles are written in JavaScript. Verge3D in fact is heavily based on Three.js, an opensource WebGL library.

Perhaps your developer could research on what Raytracer solutions are available for Three.js. Then integrating one into Verge3D/Puzzles would be relatively straightforward.

To up this request, please have a look at https://www.vectary.com/

It will never replace Verge3D (Puzzles, export from 3dsmax, friendchip), but see how they let the user to get some rendered image as an “idle” effect.
