Hi guys, so I currently have a environment sphere setup which has a flat bottom being used as a ground plane – now normally I’d use a surface shader to apply the HDRI texture to the “sky” so that it stays unaffected by directional lighting, but I also wants shadows to cast on the ground (I’ve tried aishadowmatte but it seems this is only intended for AR).

Here’s an image of what I mean^ essentially I need the “lightless” functionality of a surface shader, but also the ability to cast shadows on the ground – I know these are opposing ideas, and I tried the aiShadowMatte, but it didn’t work out. Any ideas?

aiShadowMatte must work in all scene types not only in AR, I think the problem may be in shadow parameters or sphere normals.

I can get the aishadowmatte to project a shadow – but it projects it onto full transparency, penetrating all meshes behind it (revealing the aiskydome) – in this scene, I have a skysphere that I’d like visible under it, is this possible?

You can change Alpha Opacity to get a shadow transparent.

It’s not the shadows I need transparent, the actual shadowmatte is transparent and it hides my skysphere if that makes sense? (I want to see the ground below, not the aiskysphere)

Try to set Alpha type Opaque for the material with environment texture.

Hi, sorry for not getting back sooner but I was working on something else for a bit – I’ve tried setting the surfaceshader to opaque but i’m getting the same problem :( – any other ideas?
