Hello, I just downloaded Blender 2.80 and your latest version of Verge3D. Learning fast about both. I have a question about the shaders. In your documentation, you say we should use the Verge3D PBR shader node. I follow your instructions and append from the materials folder in the applications folder, but when I do that, I get this error message: Tool “Select Box” not found for space “IMAGE_EDITOR”. What does that mean?

And also, would it be possible for us to just use the Principled BSDF node instead? What is the difference between them?

    Thanks a lot!

I should have added that the node is not available to be added in the menu tree after doing the append.

You can use Principled BSDF as well, Verge3D pbr node need for compatibility with gltf standart and export to facebook 3d posts. You also can use simple cicles nodes like Diffuse, Glossy, Transparent, Emittion, Mix and Add Shader – only this yet supported, but you already can achieve a lot combining them in different proportions.

Hello Mikhail, thank you for getting back to me. You did not address the error message I mentioned. Do you know what that is? Could it be a specific error of this Blender 2.80 nightly build?

Also, I’ve been testing with the Principled BSDF node, and it exports correctly, but when I try to use the “set value” or “set color” puzzles, and I assign one of the materials defined with the Principled BSDF nodes, I get red “no colors” and “no values” in the dropdown parameter for the puzzles. Can you please explain why that happens?

    Hi!

Sorry, but it appears that the glTF-compliant PBR node does not work in the latest Blender 2.8 beta. We’ll try to investigate this issue and fix it as soon as possible.

But as Mikhail said, you can use the more flexible Principled BSDF node instead. Please read more about supported materials in our User manual.

I get red “no colors” and “no values” in the dropdown parameter

I created an example of using these puzzles with the Principled BSDF node (attached). Can you please check if it works for you?

Hello Yuri, thanks a lot. I see that the issue was that I was using a texture image for the Base color in my test. However, in your example I can see that the “set color” puzzle works, but not the “set value” (I dragged that puzzle and copied over the material you had created into it). I still get a red “no colors” option in that one. Isn’t it supposed to display options for metalness, roughness, bumpScale and others?

    Thank you!

Yes, the set value puzzle will directly work only with inputs of gltf-compliant PBR node. For use it with Principled shader be sure to add some Value nodes and connect them with the inputs that you’d like to modify.

Thank you, Yuri. I’ve figured out how to make it work with the value nodes.

Hi, I still don’t understand how you created the value in the puzzle for the my_awesome_app called principled_BSDF_input_0. I have looked at the blender file and can’t find how that was created. I have looked at the value node but that’s not it.

Please let us know how to create it
