    Clipping Planes

You can now easily and interactively cut your models to show what is inside thanks to the clipping planes feature (available in Blender and 3ds Max). See how this works in this demo.

A clipping plane (or multiple planes) can be added in Blender using the Add > Verge3D > Clipping Plane menu,

    in 3ds Max using Create > Helpers > Verge3D > ClippingPlane.

This object’s XY axes represent the plane, while the Z axis represents the normal of the cross-section.

The clipping planes can be parented to some object to be dragged with the mouse or animated in a fully interactive fashion. The cross-section can have material (Diffuse BSDF in Blender, Lambert in 3ds Max), for which you can set the color and the alpha value.

    Wireframe Mode

A puzzle for enabling the wireframe rendering has been implemented. You can find it in the Materials category.

    Blender-specific

We ensured Verge3D to be compatible with Blender 2.93 which is currently in beta.

We added the Documentation and Report a Bug buttons to the Verge3D addon panel in Blender preferences for easier access to these resources.

    3ds Max-specific

Arnold’s Lambert node is now supported by Verge3D.

    Maya-specific

Arnold’s aiAreaLight source and aiLambert shader node are now supported by Verge3D.

We fixed export crashes in Maya 2022 related to using HDR maps, and to texture format conversions. We also fixed the issue with missing Custom Properties panel in Maya 2022.

    Other improvements

There some good news for AR content developers – the drag puzzles now work in AR mode. Be sure to turn on the allow HTML option when using this feature.

New puzzles get playback time and set playback time which you can use for sounds (of music type), videos or MIDIs.

We also fixed an error printed in the browser console when using the MIDI format.

We fixed the bug with duplicate procedure puzzles (thanks for report).

Super useful updates! Will the Reflection Plane Light Probe also be working in version 3.7? That would be so great!

That’s incredible with the clipping planes!

Is there a way of applying the clipping planes to dynamically created geometry?

Ie: setup the planes in blender, open puzzle editor, then change which object has clipping planes?

    Fantastic as always! :good:
    Psyched to try it out!

@simo3dw We’re planning to implementing Reflection Planes eventually!

    @GlifTek
We’ll think about supporting this feature!

    @GlifTek

We’re working on a feature to allow clipping planes to be assigned on the dynamically loaded objects as well as feature to load clipping planes on demand. This will be available before the stable release.

If you need to switch clipping on/off, you better move your plane to some distant place to disable clipping and get it closer to the object to enable it.

    Fantastic, Alex!
I’m looking forward to experimenting with that type of functionality! :good:

The potential clients always ask about pop-up URL and Youtube when using V3D as UI. They are not interested in the 3D product but the marketing aspect that linked to their online resources.

In the past three years, I only get two customers, recently others who enquire expect a 3D web page (UI) rather than transforming their products into 3D which won’t make any better than photography.

We are in the transition period where 2D web is slowly nudging towards 3D reluctantly and at the early stage of software development, can’t believe I say this even after 20 years, web designers refuse to adopt the new standard, Adobe software dominates motion graphics with “tactics”, advertising & marketing afraid to leave their comfort zone all thinking 3D is cumbersome and very expensive (Autodesk).

So many hungry 3D artists in FB groups waiting to be hired, the condition is caused by narrow-minded mentality of those who are in the position to lead.

Version 3.7 will be my last because I am done with the market demand and my next product can just utilize any of the existing solutions.

Maybe you’re talking with the wrong people if you’re interested in working mainly in 3D.

Possibly expand your idea of what 3D sites can offer?
    Just a suggestion.

    Imagination is the limit! :good:

Verge3D has a ton of advantages over other competing solutions. I personally like it best over other options. Where Verge3d falls slightly short is in the rendering quality of reflections and soft lights/shadows. Slightly…is enough though to make me use a different solution when needed. I am hoping the reflection probes make it into 3.7.
