I know different aspects of this problem have come up before but the GLIFTEK add ons are no longer supported for new versions of verge3d it seems.

I want to give the user full control to create a grid-like arrangement of objects (like pieces on game board), but with these features:

The user can add more rows up and down (increase/decrease number of rows).

The user can also add more columns left/right if needed (increase/decrease number of items per row).

For each row (or the whole grid), the user should be able to:
Adjust the spacing between objects freely (how far apart they are — different spacing for different rows if possible).

Delete an entire row (or single objects off end of row) completely.
Move individual objects or whole rows on the XY plane (drag to reposition freely).

This is seeming to be very hard to implement.

Its tedious but not that difficult…. but I would imagine there are other limitations that have not been provided. For instance…what is the max number of rows and columns? What devices does this have to work on as there are just limitations to the usability as the number of rows and column expand beyond the cameras field of view. What upper and lower zoom level are you allowing….you could imagine someone tries to create a grid so dense it becomes close to a solid sheet…so the question is whats really useful….all these things play in line with the best approach to achieve the desired outcome.

The next question is a person puts the pieces on the board…what will the pieces be able to do…can they move independently, can they consume each other space….do they have to respect and collide with each other…..the answer to these questions can complicate the problem dramatically.

You also did not specify whether the distance between them has a max or a min as that would be helpful too.

well.. good news. I just got AI to build me a plug in for this. pretty cool.. I can generate groups of objects and incrementally space and add/remove at will.
