    Hi all.

I’ve been experiencing some difficulties that I hope you may be able to shed some light on. Im working with Blender. My app runs fine for a while but after i make some updates to the design and re-export it, the whole scene suddenly disappears. The background and “world” setting can be seen and if i make any changes to the colour of the background, it updates fine. But none of the other elements are visible. This has happened twice.

    Details that might help:
day 1- I created an app and made a model on blender. All good.
day 2- Refined the model. added puzzles. All good.
day 3- made changes to the model. embedded a link on a trial website. all good.
day 5- made changes to the model. Updated the embedded a link on a trial website. all good.
day 6 (1st half)- made changes to the model. Tried sneakpeek’. all good.
day 6 (2nd half)- made changes to the model. Tried sneakpeek’. Only background shows. No actual model, although the model is showing on the linked blender file.

Similar problem had happened previously too. Please advise. till now, I’ve put a weeks work into this and would like to salvage that. I’m running/teaching at a makerspace at our University and would love to integrate your platform into our workflow. I’m not a pro at app development, but eager to learn and integrate.

    Thanks!
    Stay safe,
    Rick

    Hi,

may be the normals got flipped accidentally?

Just wild guesses here. Flipped normals will cause this for sure as Yuri has stated. Sometimes I find that the camera is just not starting where you expect it to be. Again…just grasping at straws here but if you havent set a start point and aim point for the camera at there is a chance its just not pointing where you think it should.

To solve this, I typically add an CAM_LOC empty….and a CAM_TARGET empty. Then using the Tween Camera puzzle I set the position to: CAM_LOC and the “look at” to CAM_TARGET… move “linearly”, in .1 sec.

This just insures the camera is at the location you expect and looking where you want. May or may not help you….good luck.

    Can you share the file?

    Hey,

Tried ur suggestions but problem still persists. Checked the normals, and i founf a few faces flipped. Not many, though. I manually flipped them but that doesn’t seem to make any difference.

Really appreciate the wild guesses. It may not have solved the problem, but it was an instructive detour that will help some time in the future, I’m sure.

    Cheers. :good:

Do you mean the .blend file? It vastly exceeds the 4 MB cap on uploads. I am sharing a google drive link hereunder.

In this doesn’t serve your purpose, please let me how/what else i can do to share it.

Thanks for the prompt reply. This community is awesome.

Ok…the blend file needs some rework.
There are a lot of duplicate objects causing the scene to exceed 1 million triangles.

There are some remaining faces pointed the wrong direction..and a lot of very dense geometry.

So….give me a bit to strip this down to the basics.

    and give it a test

There are a number of concurrent problems with the blender scene that are causing the problem in Verge:

    1. Duplicate objects. There are at least two of each object in the scene causing the scene to inflate to over 1 million triangles. Getting rid of all the duplicates will get you near 500K triangles.

    2. There are too many objects. If the items are not going to be animating I would group up those objects combine textures to minimize draw calls.

    3. Decimate – you have it on your platform which is good but you will need to do this on all your parts. Take a look at your scene in wireframe mode. If the model has dark areas that are almost solid black…those areas need to be reworked to lower the density.

    4. Clone – You may want to even consider cloning parts in Verge instead of having a heavy model. Example: you only need one caster wheel…the others can be cloned in Verge3d. Another example would be your basic tables…just need one..and cloned in Verge3d.

    5. text – this particular text is extremely heavy 1,052,577 triangles…just deleting the text gets you down to: 840,029.

    6. There are two collections with duplicate models: Collection and SKP.
Hopefully you can delete all the models in one of these collections.

Once you do these things you will be fine.

Lastly….Topology. Verge prefers Quads vs triangles. If you can convert your triangles to Quads it will help you simplify the geometry and Verge3d will be happy too.

Yes I was doing all kinds of experiments to try to get this to work. I had re-imported the assets which is why there’s two of everything.

I did all the modelling work in Sketchup and was using Blender as the go-between. Therefore the ungodly number of different items in the model. Might have to rethink that strategy now.

Man. Sincerely deep thanks for all the help, pointers and for taking the trouble to wander through the wasteland of my blend file. That must’ve taken some time and effort.

Appreciate all the awesomeness. If you’re ever in India and looking for a place to crash or something, I got you covered.
