ParticipantI have never used Blender or Verge3D before and was asked to create an interactive 3D learning tool for training some of our new employees at work, so I’m trying to create a control panel for people to play with.
I’ve made the panel, but there’s a dial that needs to be able to be rotated to 3 positions (Run / Off / Remote) I need the dial to turn a green light on instantly when set to Run, turn the light off when set to Off and turn the green light on after 5 mins when set to remote.
Is this possible?

xeonCustomerHi there…
Here is a simple example of what I believe you are asking for:
https://v3d.net/1e65. This zip includes the blender file.Example project you can interact with here:
https://v3d.net/1e66This should give you a good start on how to approach it.
For this demo…
knob position 1 is off, 2 is run, 3 is remote and the remote is set for 3 seconds…you can adjust the timer as you need.-

ParticipantThanks that was exactly what I wanted but I can’t seem to get it to work properly on my project, the dial needs to rotate on the Y axis which I changed but no matter what I do I can’t get it to only go to those 3 positions and not rotate all the way and also the 0 1 2 positions on your example are where I want them but they just need to be vertical and not horizontal and I can’t seem to get that to work either.
I would attach the files here, but I can’t seem the get that working either!

xeonCustomerIs your dial similar in function to a combination lock dial?
The dial object has constraints on it to limit rotation. You will need to modify the constraints in blender.
To link files. Use the App Manager. In your project list in the app manager click on the name of your project. This will open a project specific window. Within that find the zip project icon and save it to the V3D network. It will provide you a link you can copy and paste to this forum.

ParticipantCheers, I’ve added the constraints to the dial and it now only rotates where I want, but my brain just can’t figure out how to get the dial to turn the light on in the correct position still.
I want it to be ‘RUN’ then ‘OFF’ then ‘REMOTE’ and if possible can it be set to snap to those 3 position when rotating.

xeonCustomerLink to zip: https://v3d.net/1e65
Link to online project: https://v3d.net/1e66The “knob position” position procedure determines if the knob is closer to one position or another when the user lets go of the mouse. It then snaps to the closes rotational position.
The rotation order is now Run-OFF-Remote.
