justin_blenderCustomerHello Community!
This is my first forum post, with a general question for Materials. I am planning to start several projects were I need to design custom materials.Until now I checked out the sample projects to understand the materials. But I am really struggling, as I am much used to cycles. I did not find any tutorial for V3D Materials in Blender.
So then lately you released the PBR example. This seems to have a whole different workflow, as it is based on Cycles but finally exported to gltf. I don’t understand how there can be a connection between those two engines. Do I have to?So my questions:
What is exactly the difference between the PBR and “standard” V3D materials?
Which material workflow is the one I should learn, and how? Thanks a lot in advance!

Mikhail LuzyaninStaffHi and welcome to our forum. It will depend on what you want to achieve with your materials. Pbr workflow have some limitation but more closer to cycles, it the same as if you would use principlied node. But GLSL node gives you more control of the material effect and allow you to create more complex and dynamic materials. For GLSL and PBR workflow tutorials check our youtube chanel.

justin_blenderCustomerThank you for the answer! So I will stick to GLSL node system as I want maximum control.
Please can you name the videos where these are explained?
If you mean the soft8soft channel, I only find videos about the general workflow, but not how to create materials from scratch.
Thanks again!2018-04-01 at 10:12 am #3336

justin_blenderCustomerSo from that I understand that the material design is the same like in Blender internal Render? I totally missed that
If that is the case, there should be plenty of online documentation.2018-04-01 at 1:24 pm #3338
Mikhail LuzyaninStaffYes it’s almost the same, but not all of the standart material settings supported. To get full acess to all posibilities of the engine use material nodes. Also to get the same result in the blender viewport and the engen follow the scene setup instructions from the second youtube tutorial from the verge3d for blender playlist.
