I have two seperate licences and according installations on the same Windows 10 system. (And one installation of Verge3D for Blender on a linux system. My personal favorite and works like a charm. But the question here is about windows environment in first place)
    So I have this setup:

    1. Verge3D for Blender
    Installation-path is C:\Users\Myname\verge3d_blender\python\windows

    1. Verge3D for Max
    Installation-path is C:\Users\Myname\verge3d_max\python\windows

Now, (I guess since I updated the Verge3D for Blender (from version 3.7.x to 3.8),) I cannot launch the Verge3D for 3ds Max. When I doubleclick the Icon on Desktop, this underlying command:

    C:\Users\Myname\verge3d_max\python\windows\python.exe “C:\Users\Myname\verge3d_max\manager\server.py” MAX RUN_BROWSER

    lauches the http://localhost:8668/ and shows
    Verge3D for Blender, Version: 3.8.0

Diving into this topic leads to several more questions. Finally, I would like to know, what would be a good scenarion to have both versions running side by side? What is actually needed when I just want to work on the puzzles?

I specially care about the puzzles, my collegue creates the content with 3ds. We share a folder, set at the App Manager Settings: External applications directory

Other projects are created with Blender.

I once notified some alerts in the browsers console window, because I was re-using assets (gltfs that were made with Max) in a Verge3D-App wich was created with the Blender-installation of Verge3D.

Since I am alerted, I wonder what might be working and what might become a trouble-maker in larger projects? And how to manage a clean update process of both versions?

Maybe the easiest question to answer: If I copy an application-folder that has been created with 3ds into the application-folder of the Verge3D Blender-installation, will I get into trouble when working on the puzzles?

As more complex the projects get, as more I want to be prepared.
    What is your advice?

    Thanks again for any advice!
    Best regards!

    Hi,
This is a current limitation of App Manager. The package that runs first occupies the single network port 8668 that we use for the server. Using (i) icon on the main App Manager toolbar you can figure out what package is actually running. So for example, if you need to run Verge3D for Blender, you need to run Blender first.

This limitation is not a big deal, actually. It affects only the place where your apps will be created and also if you run the wrong package, Sneak Peak feature might fail to run.

As for the assets, you can ignore the warning, however if you really need to mix assets, I’d recommend considering purchasing a Verge3D Ultimate solution. It includes all 3 flavours of our toolkit in a single installation directory.

Regarding updates, please check out the manual.

Alexander, thank you for your feedback!

The package that runs first occupies the single network port 8668 that we use for the server.

I booted Windows and lauched the Verge3D for 3ds Max via desktop-icon, but the appmanager shows I am running the Blender Version. I am not sure if I got it right what you mean when you say “that runs first”. Anyways, now I know that I don’t need to run the Max version at all. I will simply use the Blender version for all my jobs on the apps puzzles.

    Best regards!
