The frustration and annoyance of Verge3D.
I’ve received 3ds max files from a sub-contractor who had the Verge3D plugin installed. Every time I load the scene or merge scene files into new scenes, I would get the verge3D dll error and every object params would contain the clutter of the Verge3D rollout.

So the only way I can remove this plugin it seems is to install Verge3D, use the maxscript utility to then remove the params and any verge3D association with the scene. But then I get another issue. After installing the Verge3D plugin, I can’t seem to open any 3ds max scenes. I encounter the ParamBlock2 error. So then, I have to bluddy merge the scene into a new file and lose my scene setup and xref’s. I can then run the stupid tool and remove everything.

Can the developers just make a maxscript for non-verge users, that we can drop into the scene and it will remove any verge3D infection? Seriously, this is akin to a virus at this point and has plagued our workflow.

Hi, sorry to hear that!

Could you please tell us more about this error. Perhaps some screenshots or minimal max scene so we could investigate it further?

This task is already in our TODO list, but given the seriousness of this issue I’d increase its priority.

    Thanks for responding, Alexander.

Sorry I don’t have Verge installed anymore so I can’t go through the process again. Max would attempt to open the scene, produce two error messages, “ParamBlock2” and “Failed to open file” and then it would just load nothing. One hypothesis is that it might be due to different Verge3D versions. So the original scene might have been created with an older version. Otherwise there’s some object in the scene that has received the Verge Params and it fails to load it in the new version.

    Good to hear!
