Tint Object instead of Outline

Hello,

the Outline Effect is a really easy way to get selection indicator based on the geometry.
Instead of getting an outline, would it be possible to tint the object?

The only way i found to tint an object on hover is to change the material, which gets complicated very fast with more than a few materials.

Could you implement this feature please?
