I’m trying to use an image texture (png with alpha) on a simple plane. The areas that should be transparent are showing up black. What is the best/simplest way?

    Thank you.

You need also enable Transparency chackbox in the material settings.

    Dear Developer,

I have the same problem but cannot fix after ticking those 2 boxes. When view in view port texture mode and render in Blender Render it looks okay! When I click “sneak Peek” it shows a white background. Could you please help? I have attached the blender file. Thank you!

    Best Wishes,
    Tom

You better create a node material using Blender Internal nodes, but even better to use Cycles or EEVEE, because I think Blender Internal will be no more supported by the new version of Verge3D engine when 2.8 will be released.

Tomcd, this discussion started back in August of 2018 so the screenshot Mikhail had posted was from an earlier version of Blender. In blender 2.8, I switch the blend mode to “alpha clip” in the material settings (see screen shot)

I am not sure if this is the right way to do it but it works.
