    Hi Guys,

I working with Max 2022 and verge 4.8.0

I´m trying to find out how this positional speaker puzzle works properly…

I´ve attached it to a car driving by….the car is linked to a dummy which follows a path
    through the scene……

i dont hear a thing….the settings ( rolloff from and factor ) zhere is no change whatever
settings i use….the path to the soundfile is fine

Question:…….What unit do the settings follow……?

    Hi Ger,

Does this puzzle work for you on a simpler / smaller scene, without any animation?

the Verge virtual_reality sample does work fine with the puzzle……

But even a simpler File i set up doesn´t work……

I had a look at the virtual_reality sample Puzzles……..and the according Max file….

Is there any other puzzle i need to set up to make it work….Did i Miss anything?

Strange thing…since it sounded so simple to set up

It can be that the path to the sound file is not correct. Be sure to place the sound files inside your corresponding app folder and use a relative path (check out the Virtual Reality demo for a working setup).

The path of the sound file is correct…..thats not the problem….i can play the sound within the app…so its found……

do i really only need the positional speaker puzzle to make it work?

I see! My second guess is that the rolloff factor is too big. Can you try making it zero for a moment – is the sound audible?

There is no need to use positional speakers of course. But these effects are quite interesting and add much to realism.

No change with a rolloff factor of 0

Yes thats why i want to use it…..its for my mars project…when the buggy drives by the camera..

In the old version it worked well with the more complex setup for this effect….

i dont understand why it works with your sample project but not with an even simple
setup…..is there any connect to the unit setup im Max….I usualy work with a system and file Unit setup in CM….

Interesting! Can you send us a simplistic project (that contains just primitive geometry in it) with your sound setup?

Sorry there was an attachment error with this RAR. I’ve whitelisted this file type – could you try attaching it again?

There were some issues in the puzzles: nested use of sound puzzles, wrong case in the file name (Buggy_Engine.mp3 must be Buggy_engine.mp3 – important for working on the server), “rolloff from” means distance so it should be 100 if you are working with centimeters. The sound file must be loaded before clicking happens. I also made the factor lower to make the effect more pronounced.

    Here you go:
