It seems AR is available in-browser on IOS/Safari – but there doesn’t seem to be support for verge (apart from loading it in XR Viewer, which I think will put a lot of customers off).

Is there any possibility currently, or future roadmap for AR in the verge browser app on IOS devices? (https://swisstomato.ch/en/web-ar/ – these guys seem to handle it on my iPhone 12 straight out of the browser, even with a handy QR code)

    Hi,

The project you referenced in your post uses the so called USDZ technology which is supported on recent iPhone devices. However, this is just a viewer of custom USD models, there is no interactivity possible yet.

On the positive side, there is some work done in WebKit library to support WebXR technology:

Safari is based on WebKit, so the work is in progress :)

That’s good news! I’m pretty new to AR so all the different platforms confuse me a little – is it possible to enable a USDZ viewer simply based on the 3D scene without interactivity to verge or is it too complex?

I’m interested on this argument :)

I built up my own verge app with AR button and is now working well on Android but doesn’t work on iOS.

    I also read this https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/supported-devices

Looks like some iOS device are listed as compatible right?
    With an iPhone 11 it doesn’t work…

Someone can explain me better please?
