I agree this is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I also appreciate that the artist shared some of the screenshots from Blender.
Does anyone care to share how the artist created the water ripple effect? I have been trying to create this effect for some time.

This can be achieved with animated normal map texture.

    Hi Mikhail,
Are you suggesting that I use puzzles to animate the normal map or is there another technique? I imagine that I could animate the magnitude of the water waves and move the UV origin with puzzles. Thank you.

I think (as we usually did that) this can be done using usual material node animation by animation U and V coords and then connect them to a texture. You also can do this with puzzles, but it’s also possible to do without them .

If you use procedural textures for water. You can animate the mapping rotation on one of the axes. For a complete loop, you need to make sure the rotation spans 360°.
You can use puzzles to slow or accelerate the animation.
    Hope this helps.
