Here is the short history of Verge3D. The main rationale for this article is to provide info about major new features, hence to help users to make decisions on buying, renewing, and updating.

Verge3D 1.0 (November 2017)

First Verge3D release. Material system based on Blender Internal nodes, rudimentary support for PBR shaders, basic set of essential Puzzles. Works in Blender 2.79 only.

Verge3D 1.0.2 (December 2017)

Integrates Verge3D Network for instant web publishing.

Essential Material Pack for Blender (January 2018)

Includes 2 dozens of quality Blender materials.

Verge3D 2.0 (February 2018)

First version supporting 3ds Max.

Verge3D 2.3 (April 2018)

HTML puzzles, integration with website builders, Teapot Heater demo.

NASA turns to Verge3D (June 2018)

Released their first Verge3D-based app called "Experience Curiosity".

Verge3D 2.7 (September 2018)

Plugin for WordPress, support for World shader nodes in Verge3D for Blender.

Verge3D 2.9 (November 2018)

Support for Blender 2.80 and the Eevee nodes. Support for advanced Physical materials in 3ds Max. Scooter demo.

Verge3D 2.10 (February 2019)

Initial support for virtual reality (based on WebXR technology).

Verge3D 2.14 (August 2019)

Support for augmented reality (AR) apps.

Verge3D 3.0 (March 2020)

Major UI/UX upgrade of App Manager and Puzzles. Verge3D now supports Maya as the third modelling tool.

Verge3D 3.5 (November 2020)

Support for Verge3D plugins, major physics puzzles update.

Verge3D 3.7 (May 2021)

Improved rendering. Support for light probes, clipping planes, Arnold (3ds Max).

Verge3D 3.8 (September 2021)

Support for augmented reality on iOS/iPadOS devices.

Verge3D 4.0 (June 2022)

Major App Manager and Puzzles upgrade. Asset Store with free demos. Texture compression. Updated set of glTF extensions. Dropped support for Internet Explorer 11.

Verge3D 4.2 (November 2022)

Improved WooCommerce integration. First-person demo with pointer lock and mobile controls. E-Learning demo with optional SCORM integration.

Verge3D 4.3 (March 2023)

Order-independent transparency. New Virtual Reality demo, VR Controls library in Puzzles.

Verge3D 4.4 (July 2023)

Support for WooCommerce Composite Products for better 3D configurators. Improved physics. Search in Puzzles drop-downs.

Verge3D 4.5 (November 2023)

App look customizer in App Manager. Updated HTML/CSS puzzles. Procedural geometry. Major export performance boost in Verge3D for Blender. Added support for Blender 4.0.

Support for Chrome OS (January 2024)

Chromebooks can be used to develop Verge3D apps now making it the 4th supported operating system.

Verge3D 4.6 (March 2024)

Support for Progressive Web Apps (PWA) with optional offline mode. Cascaded shadow maps, improved mobile app converter. Added support for Blender 4.1, 3ds Max 2025, Maya 2025.

Machinery Material Pack for Blender (June 2024)

New pack with 73 materials compatible with Blender Asset Browser. Useful for machinery, automotive, engineering, and construction applications.

Verge3D 4.7 (August 2024)

  • Major Verge3D code base overhaul
  • Improved HTML puzzles allow creating flexbox/grid layouts as well web forms and native dialog windows
  • Support for ARM64 architecture on Linux and ChromeOS devices
  • streamlined export to glTF and USDZ formats

  • Support for Blender 4.2 (Verge3D add-on works as an extension)
